The innovative hybrid polymers from WACKER are the result of intensive research with the aim of developing adhesives and sealants that achieve optimum performance, in particular high strengths and easier handling, while fulfilling strict environmental requirements. Hybrid polymers are silane-curing organic polymers that combine the typical advantages of silicones and polyurethanes. Hybrid polymers have extremely low viscosity and therefore do not require the addition of plasticizers and solvents, or a tin catalyst for the production of adhesives and sealants. The curing mechanism used is alpha-silane technology, since alpha-based hybrid agents allow the formulation of adhesives and sealants with no health risks, which do not require classification as a hazardous substance. The low viscosity of the hybrid polymers ensures easy of processing, a wide formulation tolerance and outstanding mechanical properties. Because of their fast curing rate, hybrid polymers harden rapidly and without blistering and adhere to many conventional materials without a primer. WACKER markets its hybrid polymers under the product names GENIOSIL® STP-E and GENIOSIL® WP. Products of these series are used in a variety of different adhesive and sealant applications.
