International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an independent organization that maintains two certification systems for the sustainability of raw materials and products: ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS. Both programs meet sustainability requirements of the European Union’s (EU) Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and Fuel Quality Directive (FQD), although ISCC PLUS is regarded for markets not regulated by the RED/ FQD and includes the option for voluntary modules (e.g. environmental management and biodiversity). ISCC objectives are to contribute to the implementation of environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production and use of all kinds of biomass in global supply chains. FoodChain ID Certification is a cooperating certification body for ISCC EU and PLUS certification.
