WACKER is the first company to produce vegan L-cysteine and L-cystine in a patented biotechnological process based on fermentation. Our L-cysteine is highly pure, BSE/TSE-safe and certified as halal and kosher.
The amino acid L-cysteine is characterized by a versatile range of biofunctionalities. It is said to support strong nails and beautiful hair and is the precursor to the important antioxidant glutathione. L-cysteine raises the glutathione level and consequently boosts redox activity, especially in the liver. By promoting the pheomelanogenesis, L-cysteine enables skin-lightening and prevents dark spots. These properties make L-cysteine a powerful ingredient for creating beautifying cosmeceuticals.
In the pharmaceutical sector, the L-cysteine is for exmple used as starter material for the production of the mucolytics N-acetyl-L-cysteine and S-(carboxymethyl)-L-cysteine.
In food applications, L-cysteine is the ideal intermediate for savory meat flavorings and roast aromas that are also suitable for vegetarian and vegan applications.
