MIDI Inc - Rapid Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Identification

Mycolic acid analysis by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

Mycolic acid analysis by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) has been used for more than 20 years by mycobacteriology laboratories worldwide to aid in the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. The turnaround time (TAT) is much faster and the cost per test (consumable cost) much lower than DNA and biochemical techniques. In addition, the Sherlock MYCO-LCS can separate Mycobacterium bovis BCG (Vaccine Strain) from the MTB Complex and can identify Mycobacteria in the presence of contaminant bacteria, which is not the case for MALDI-TOF systems.
