Unmet Need Prescription medications
The Unmet Need Prescription medications used for treating chronic conditions come with significant side effects and economic costs. Complimentary and Alternative (CAM) therapies are emerging as a popular counterpart to prescription medications for management of chronic conditions. In the US, approximately, 38% of adults and 12% of children use some form of CAM therapy. Natural products including, Vitamins, Minerals and Herbal Supplements (VMHS) form the biggest component of CAM therapies (17.7%). Most VMHS products currently on the market lack thorough scientific inquiry and very few are developed based on clinical information. Therefore there is a significant unmet need to develop VMHS products based on sophisticated scientific methodologies to address the needs of people with chronic conditions and help them improve their quality of life.
